Solo performance Burst Your Bubble

A 10 minute improvisation based solo performance with Dutch Sign Language and dance.

Solo performance Burst Your Bubble

This solo is a 10-minute structured improvisation solo, performed during Burst Your Bubble. An event organised by Stichting Possibilize during accessibility week.
I was asked to do a performance, when they asked me, I knew I wanted to do this. This opportunity gave me the chance to develop myself as a maker, to get closer to myself and start researching combining signlangue and dance in a dramaturgically and performative way.

The solo is a small personal research where I reflected on the 2 different perspectives I have as a deaf person with Cochlear implants. The two ways of experiencing the hearing world: the differences, the similarities, and my own struggles.

This solo was, for me, the first time I performed as a dancer without any music and even without my Cochlear implants. Music is (funnily enough) the number one thing that makes me move. Now I had to truly connect with my inner self: my soul, my spirit and my feelings. Which I believe is a good thing. I am glad for this opportunity.

Burst Your Bubble:
An amazing event organised by and for deaf people. During this event, there were only Dutch deaf performers.
